Launch of New Blog: Meandering Match

Posted by on July 13, 2011

Hello Everyone,

I’ve recently been working on developing a new blog. It is named Meandering Match. This is a shared blog between my beautiful girlfriend, Laurel Goodman, and I. We are in the planning phase of something momentous. A self supported independent charity bike ride across the United States next summer. We are going to ride our bicycles from Astoria, Oregon to Yorktown, Virginia along the 4,262 mile route as designated by the Adventure Cycling Association.

We decided to do this bike ride about 6 months ago. In talking about the ride, we both feel we wanted it to be bigger then just the two of us. We both want to do something good for this world, and turning our bike ride into a fund-raiser is exactly it.

So we researched various nonprofits, and found one we like. There name is Bikes Without Borders and we think the work they do is great. They have a project in Malawi, Africa providing bicycles and bike ambulances to local volunteer health care workers. Access to health care is a big problem and many people, including pregnant mothers, die needlessly because they just can’t reach a hospital.

We’re super excited and are currently trying to gain sponsorship. If you or anyone you know is connected and can help us out, please do. We have a wish list under our sponsors page.

So in due time I will request support, but for now I’m just letting you all know what is to come. Any advice, connections, help, etc. is all welcome. We’ve never done anything like this before, but have high hopes, lots of enthusiam, and open hearts. What could go wrong?

Thanks, and have a wonderful day!

P.S. I love my bicycle!!!!!
